An interior-architecture redesign of a ski-in / ski-out chalet in Grimentz, Swiss Alps — where building-permission constraints made the interior the focus, in a traditional alpine village with reliable snow and summer activities.

The design
The redesign improves all floors by adding a basement level. The new basement holds a teenagers' room with entertainment and gym equipment, a laundry, a sauna with shower, storage and a new garden staircase. On the ground floor, bedrooms gain direct WC access, the shower room gains windows, and a wet room is added for snow gear.
On the first floor the kitchen moves into the double-height space with a curved bar counter, the living room is repositioned to the south-facing balconies, and a bedroom window is added. The second floor becomes a master suite, lit by Velux roof windows and a glass partition that draws natural light deep into the plan.
